Training Videos, Respect at Work

Sexual Harassment Training Videos

We make sexual harassment and Respect at Work training videos for Australian employers. They are short, realistic scenes set in your kind of workplace, made for staff, managers and leaders, with your HR team or legal adviser signing off what they say.

Since December 2022 employers have had a positive duty under the Sex Discrimination Act to take reasonable and proportionate measures to prevent sexual harassment, and since December 2023 the Australian Human Rights Commission has been able to enforce it. The Commission's guidelines say one-off training is not effective unless it is reinforced, and that the quality of training matters more than how often it runs.

Scenes People Recognise

Most people have sat through harassment training that felt generic, American or patronising, and switched off. Our films show situations that happen in Australian workplaces: the comment at work drinks, the message after hours, the client who crosses a line, the manager who hears about it second-hand. Viewers see what happened, how it felt for the people involved, and what a bystander or a manager could do next.

What We Cover

A program is usually a core film for everyone, versions for people leaders and the board, and short refreshers through the year.

  • What sexual harassment and sex-based harassment look like at work
  • The positive duty and what it asks of managers and leaders
  • Bystander action, and how to respond when someone tells you
  • Reporting, and what happens after a report
  • Harassment by customers, clients and the public
  • Work events, travel, remote work and messaging
  • Bullying, discrimination and the psychosocial hazards that sit alongside harassment
  • Short refreshers that reinforce the main training through the year

Made With Your Adviser

The legal content comes from you, your HR team or your employment lawyer, and they approve the script. We write the scenes and the dialogue around it. Law firms and consultancies that run Respect at Work training can use our films inside their own programs for clients.

Versions For Each Workplace

Staff, people leaders and boards need different things, and an office is not a building site, a hospital ward, a hotel or a shop floor. We make a core film with versions for each audience and each kind of workplace. Every film has captions and can be translated.

Handled With Care

Harassment is a personal subject, and a film that feels cheap or cold does more harm than good. Our scenes are written to be realistic without being graphic, the cast is generated so none of your own staff are asked to act out a sensitive story, and we recommend telling viewers where to get support at the start and end of every film.

Situations people recognise from their own workplace, written with your adviser and handled with care.

Questions We Get Asked

Does a training video meet our positive duty?

No single training product does. The positive duty asks for reasonable and proportionate measures across leadership, culture, risk management, support, reporting and monitoring. Training is one of those measures, and the Commission says it should be reinforced rather than run once. Our films are made to be one part of that plan, alongside your policy and reporting process.

Can the film reflect our own policy and reporting process?

Yes. The film shows how a report is made in your organisation, who it goes to and what happens next, using the wording of your policy.

Is it based on Australian law?

Yes. The films are written for Australian workplaces and law, including the Sex Discrimination Act, the Fair Work Act and the model Code of Practice on sexual and gender-based harassment, with the legal content approved by your adviser.

Can you make a version for managers and leaders?

Yes. Leaders get scenes about what they are expected to notice, how to respond to a disclosure and how to act on a report, as well as their responsibilities under the positive duty.

Will it be confronting for staff?

The scenes are realistic but not graphic. We show the behaviour and its effect without dwelling on it, and include support information with every film. We agree the scenarios with you before writing, so nothing comes as a surprise.

Can our own leaders appear in the film?

The cast is generated, which keeps your staff out of a sensitive story. A real leader can introduce the training if they wish, with their written consent.

How much does it cost?

Every film is quoted from the brief. The price depends on how many films you need and how long they run, the number of scenes, versions and languages, whether you need SCORM packages and questions, and the number of review rounds. Send us a brief and we will come back with a quote and a schedule.

Have a Film In Mind?

Tell us what it is for and when it needs to be out, and we will come back with how we would make it.
